THE DANGERS

  • The routes of exposure to HBCD are skin contact, ingestion and inhalation of contaminated particles and dusts.

  • As an endocrine disruptor, there is no minimum threshold of exposure without risk. The exposure concentration must be as low as possible (ALARA principle: As Low As Reasonably Achievable).

  • In practice, this means taking all reasonable measures to limit the spread of residues or dust from the contaminated material, particularly during construction.
