PCB can be absorbed through the inhalation of dust or ingestion of contaminated food (e.g. in the flesh of some fish) or by direct contact.
PCB then spreads through the body and can cause lesions in the liver, problems with growth and fertility, and cancers by disrupting the hormonal system.
When heated, PCB is transformed into dioxins.
